Values-In-Action…exploring the interplay of values held by workers, organisations and communities.

This workshop will explore the interplay of values held by workers, teams and human service organisations. There will be opportunities for participants to make their own core values more explicit and consider ways to express these values more fully in their day-to-day work. This exploration will highlight challenges and opportunities that arise when workers’ values do not align with other values held in teams, organisations and service systems and/or when there is a “say-do gap”. Participants will discuss options for nurturing more values-driven cultures in teams and organisations.

By the end of this workshop participants will:

  • Be better able to articulate the core values that got them into human service work and the ‘values journeys’ they’ve been on since then,
  • Be clearer about the ‘fit’ between their own values and those of the organisation and sector within which they work,
  • Have explored ways to give fuller expression to preferred values in both direct practice and in team or organisational life.
